To the Hiring Manager:

My name is Jason Kastens and I am writing this letter to express my interest in employment at your firm.  I have attached my résumé to this letter as means of an initial application.

I began surveying and drafting at The Benham Companies LLC and worked there for twelve years.  My survey experience spanned the United States and took me overseas to Italy, Spain, Guam and Africa.  At Benham I used Trimble GPS systems and conventional Total Stations as well as Sokkia Total Stations.  I utilized Trimble Geomatics Office, AutoCAD, and Bentley InRoads to download and process survey information and prepared surveys for design and final submittal.  The Benham Companies LLC was an Oklahoma City-based A&E firm focused on government and military contracts, commercial and industrial design along with infrastructure and transportation engineering.

In 2009, I began working as a CAD technician and land survey field representative for Coon Engineering in Oklahoma City.  My primary duties were to coordinate CAD drafting on Oklahoma City’s Project 180—a downtown renewal project involving several Oklahoma City design firms—and download, process and draft survey data.

I moved to Myers Engineering in 2010 and started work as a construction inspector, but quickly filled a vacated position in the survey department.  In addition to executing topographic surveys, I operated as a single-person crew on construction staking projects in Weatherford, Elk City, Sayer and Guymon.  Myers Engineering is a civil engineering firm focused on commercial and municipal projects throughout Oklahoma.

My most recent experience came with Jacobs Engineering where I worked as both a survey field representative and CAD draftsman.  I executed as-built and topographic surveys for ODOT, TexDOT and PennDOT and facilitated CAD design projects and GIS projects including Warning Siren Exhibits for the City of Garland, TX and the ODOT Railroad Centerline database project.  Jacobs’ Oklahoma City location is an engineering office that includes civil engineering, surveying, and materials testing.

Thank you for your time in considering my résumé.  I look forward to further communication with you.

Best Regards,

Jason Kastens
